Seriously pointless and uninformed question. The seller forgot to wipe down the chrome on the exhaust. 911 engines run rich. They just do, and oil doesn't show up as carbon on the chrome.

@Dino356987, I dont think LN actually knows the failure rate as it is so low. If you read their exact words, they are clearly speculating. "The incidence of IMS failures in 2006-2008 Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models with the M96 or M97 engine is very low. We would estimate about a 1% failure rate". In other words, they are just guessing. I think the failure rate is actually a lot lower as Porsche specific changed the design to address this problem.
@ZootFinster Here is some more information supporting that as well. A 2007 has 1% failure rate.

@ZootFinster I called and spoke with the Porsche Technician that has regularly maintained this particular vehicle. He said the IMS issue was at the highest risk from 1997-2005 with 8% of those cars having failures. After 2005 the risk for IMS issues dropped significantly and with regular maintenance there should be no issues.

@michaelhahn car has 3 previous owners according to the carfax. With that in mind and being for sale by a dealer, not sure how it could be claimed that a 17 year old car with 3 previous owners has never been tracked, unless all previous owners were specifically contacted and asked to confirm.
