The second-generation Dodge Viper (SR II) was launched in 1996 and included a new GTS coupe model with a more powerful 8.0-liter V10 engine. This first-year example is finished in Viper GTS Blue over black leather upholstery and has been in the current owner’s collection since 2011. Showing just over 18k miles on the odometer, this Viper GTS is now being offered for auction out of Kansas.
The Viper GTS Coupe shares only 10% of its parts with the standard Viper RT/10 roadster and includes a fixed hardtop roof with a raised “double bubble” section to accommodate racing helmets on track days. This example is finished in the model’s debut color of Viper GTS Blue with contrasting white racing stripes and polished 17” five-spoke wheels. Other features include a polished fuel filler cap, projector-style headlamps, fog lights, a forward-hinged vented clamshell hood, and dual center-mounted exhaust pipes. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, this Viper features a pair of black leather bucket seats with a matching dashboard, door panels, and center console. Accessories include a leather three-spoke steering wheel, adjustable pedals, power windows, airbags, air conditioning, a stereo system, remote entry, a 200-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and a suite of auxiliary gauges on the upper central dashboard. The seller notes a wear mark on the driver’s seat and a crack near the window on the door panel. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
Rated at 450 HP and 490 lb.-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated 8.0-liter V10 engine sends power to the rear wheels through a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Mechanical features include four-wheel independent suspension with rebound-adjustable coilover shocks, power-assisted rack & pinion steering, and four-wheel power-assisted ventilated disc brakes.
This sale will include owner’s manuals and a clean title.
