Produced by Quattro GmbH from 1991-1995, the Audi S2 was the first model in Audi’s S series of vehicles. This 1994 example is one of 1,812 Avant versions built in total and is finished in Volcano Black Pearl over Charcoal Grey Kodiak leather, featuring a 6-speed manual transmission mated to its turbocharged 2.2-liter inline-five engine. Additional equipment includes 16” Speedline wheels, factory sport suspension, an RS2 rear bumper, Recaro sport seats, and more. This Audi was imported to the U.S. from Spain in 2023 and is now being offered for auction out of New Jersey showing 181k km (approximately 112k miles) on the odometer.

The S2 features a front bumper reminiscent of the Audi V8, a body-colored grille surround, projector headlights with washers, roof rails, a full-width taillight band, a rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. Finished in Volcano Black Pearl (LZ9U), this example rides on silver-finished 16” Speedline Avus wheels wrapped in Dunlop Sport All-Season tires. The seller notes an RS2 rear bumper and heckblende have been fitted and that the driver’s side was repainted during previous ownership. The cabin is upholstered in Charcoal Grey Kodiak leather (SX) and features heated and power-adjustable front Recaro sport seats, with wood trim accenting the door panels, center console, and dashboard. Additional equipment includes a power sunroof, a 4-spoke steering wheel, white instrument dials, automatic climate control, an infrared central locking system, and an aftermarket Alpine cassette stereo has been added, along with door-mounted speakers.

Powered by a turbocharged 2.2-liter ABY inline-five engine, the S2 Avant sends up to 230 HP and 280 lb.-ft. of torque to all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transaxle and a Quattro all-wheel drive system with a Torsen center differential and a locking rear differential. Additional factory equipment includes 1BE sport suspension. The seller notes that the clutch assembly was replaced before the car was exported from Spain and that the the intercooler, diverter valve, fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter, engine mounts, and spark plugs were replaced at Caste Systems Performance of Norwood, New Jersey in February 2024.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, service records, the original intercooler and fuel regulatorvalve, and a clean title.

      @Alfadog2000 definitely rare, My preference is the RS2 , Porsche wheels. Super cool. I have owned my 94’S4 for about 10 years and there is nothing sweeter than a 5 cylinder turbo engine note!

      @TransaxleJoe it's been cool to research the S2 over the past several months. From what I've been able to find- the S2 is actually rarer then the RS2. I've never driven an RS2 but for those that have the sense is that the S2 is lighter and has less turbo lag giving it a better driving experience. Being both an Audi and Porsche nut I'm torn between the Porsche wheels on the RS2 and the avus wheels that came with the S2. I'll never get enough of the heckenblende from the RS2 which was added here along with the RS2 rear bumper prior to my ownership. From what I've been able to find, the recaros in the car are relatively rare as well...

      Final few hours for the auction. Here for any questions. I was oogling her this AM and took one last ride- it's so unique and that engine.. 90% of the people have no idea what this model represents and it's history but funny when they do they go nuts. I've had a few younger drivers follow me and ask questions which gives me hope that the current generation of car nuts isn't all tesla fans ;)

      @TransaxleJoe thank you! As a kid of the 80's/90's and an ski fanatic at the time, Audi was huge in marketing in the ski racing scene. A quattro was the car to have at the time.. I remember oogling over manual audi quattro 90 but the budget was serverly limited so I settled for a used FWD audi 80 with cloth interior;) the group B/rally history was also out there and this was the 1st audi model with that lineage. As you mention they never imported these to the states and I'm not completely sure why they still came with an airbag for the Spanish market. I can't imagine owning this car in the 90's... I would've been a rockstar with the ski crowd ;) cheers!!

      I believe that the C4 chassis, ie ur-S4, or “original “ S4 from 92-94, was the first S car available in the USA. Being imported from Spain. It has US airbag steering wheel. Was it required to pass importation?
