Embodying the philosophy of the 911 Carrera RS, the Porsche 968 Clubsport was introduced for the 1993 model year as a lightweight track-focused car featuring Recaro racing seats, a lowered suspension, and 17-inch Cup Design wheels. Never offered for sale in the United States, the Clubsport saw a limited production of just over 1,900 units across three years. This 1993 example is said to be the second ever produced and was originally designated for the German market, configured as an “Exhibition Vehicle” with the removal of transportation equipment. It comes finished in Speed Yellow and features a factory Matter roll cage, safety harnesses, and the optional Sport Package which adds sport chassis tuning (030) and a limited-slip differential (220). This 968 is said to have been originally retained by Porsche AG as a factory press car and was showcased at various German auto shows before it was passed to Donatelli GMBH, and eventually joined the previous owner's collection in 2005. Imported from Germany earlier in 2024, this rare 968 CS is now being offered for auction out of Massachusetts with just under 67k kilometers (~42k miles) on the odometer.

In contrast to its standard 968 counterpart, the Clubsport variant is distinguishable by its lowered stance, rear badging, body-colored rear spoiler, and matching 17" Cup wheels. This example is finished in Speed Yellow (L12G) and is specified without a sunroof. The seller adds that the wheels have been recently refinished and wrapped in new Continental ContiSportContact tires. One minor paint imperfection is noted on the front edge of the hood, as shown in the gallery along with paint meter readings measuring even thickness.

The Black (AJ) interior features cloth-trimmed Recaro bucket seats with body-colored backrest shells, TRW 5-point safety harnesses, and an extremely rare factory Matter roll cage. To minimize weight, the Clubsport model came without rear seats, airbags, power accessories, an analog clock, an exterior temperature display, air conditioning, or sound-deadening materials. The seller notes a small indentation on the driver’s door armrest which is attributed to the installation of the roll cage.

Up to 237 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque comes from a 3.0-liter inline-four engine with VarioCam variable valve timing. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential included with the optional Sport Package. This option also adds sport chassis tuning (M30) with stiffer dampers, thicker anti-roll bars, and larger brakes with 304mm x 32mm cross-drilled discs. Service in April 2024 is said to have included replacing the timing belt, balance shaft belt, front-end seals, water pump, thermostat, accessory belts, hood struts, brake pads, rotors, and brake fluid.

This sale will include a clean title, a first aid kit, a battery charger, owner’s manuals, sales literature, and two keys.

The seller would like you to know: "Welcome to my auction of this very special 968 Clubsport I've named "Number two" for obvious reasons - its the second 968CS ever built. This car was owned and registered to Porsche AG under an SL-R registration number and was used as a press car and brought to various car shows. I imported it and serviced the car with intentions of keeping it but I have come across another opportunity and regretfully I am listing it for sale."

    Is this ketchup’s mustard?

  • ErichCS (seller) 4 days, 14 hoursago

@rhmoritz No track time or race history that I am aware of.

As for the side script ... that was a Great Britain marketing add on. Any LHD Club Sports that you see all it added at some point. They did not come from the factory with that markings.

  • rhmoritz (registered bidder) 4 days, 17 hoursago

Any track time or race history? Missing side script?.

  • ErichCS (seller) 6 days, 9 hoursago

@One2Many This car has option code 740, which meant "Showcar preparation – This code would usually be found on a 968 that was designated for a major auto show or press utilization." Also, being the second CS car built from the VIN, and the registration from Porsche. I also have the contact information for the first owner and who I bought it from. Both confirmed the show car status and history.

  • ErichCS (seller) 6 days, 11 hoursago

Hi @everyone just uploaded the paint meter photos...

  • ErichCS (seller) 6 days, 11 hoursago

Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.

  • One2Many (registered bidder) 6 days, 14 hoursago

@IslaTurbine oh….a color matched roll bar would look great on this car!

  • IslaTurbine (registered bidder) 6 days, 18 hoursago

Nearly identical to the Speed Yellow 968 CS on display at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart, right down to the red racing harnesses…..except that car has a color-matched roll bar.

    This thing is a beauty!

  • One2Many (registered bidder) 1 weekago

Thanks Erich. And is there any documentation verifying that this was the press and show car? I know there is a speed yellow car in a few show pics. Just wondering is there is anything verifying that its this car. Thanks.

What a great car! I've owned several 944 Turbos and always thought how nice it would be to have that amazing chassis without the finickyness of the turbo. I had no idea that someone imported one of these beauties. If I hadn't just gone on a bit of a car buying spree I'd be all over this. Good luck. She deserves top dollar!

  • ErichCS (seller) 1 week, 1 dayago

Hi Drew! Thank you for recognizing the coolness and rarity of this car... The fact that Porsche used this car for car shows and kept it in house is just so unique and fascinating.

As for the wheels, I have compared them to stock wheels in the past... they are the same just painted.

  • drewnashty (registered bidder) 1 week, 2 daysago

Wow Erich, you always find some neat transaxles particularly 968s. She's a rare beauty and I bet a thrill to drive! I just signed up on Pcarmarket and already see a 968 Club Sport located in Lee, MA and say "gee, I wonder ... yeap, look who it is spreading the love over here", awesome!

Are the Cup wheels on the Club Sports the same just painted or perhaps a lighter forging?
