The flagship 12-cylinder Ferrari of the 1980s, the Testarossa features an unmistakable Pininfarina design complemented by a 4.9-liter flat-12 engine paired with a gated 5-speed manual gearbox. This 1989 example is one of 261 U.S. versions produced for the model year and is presented in a traditional combination of Rosso Corsa paint over Beige Connolly leather upholstery. The car underwent a major service in 2019 including timing belt and clutch replacements before it was purchased by the current owner in 2021 with approximately 300 miles driven since. Previously sold on PCARMARKET, this Ferrari Testarossa is now being offered for auction out of Kansas.
The Testarossa is characterized by its wide, wedge-shaped bodywork featuring distinctive side air intake strakes, pop-up headlamps, louvered taillights, and a vented engine cover flanked by flying buttress C-pillars. This example is finished in Rosso Corsa with a black front spoiler and rocker panels. Equipment includes an offset front brake cooling duct, integrated fog lights, dual mirrors, quad exhaust outlets, and 15” five-spoke alloy wheels in silver. The car rides on BF Goodrich g-Force Sport tires. Some paint touch-ups are noted on the engine lid and front bumper cover. Inside, this Testarossa features Beige Connolly leather upholstery with matching carpets and contrasting brown leather on the dashboard, center console, and armrests. Accessories include a black leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel, automatic seatbelts, power windows, air conditioning, analog Veglia instrumentation, a Sony cassette stereo, and a gated shifter assembly.
The Testarossa features a mid-mounted Tipo F113 4.9-liter flat-12 engine with 4-valves-per-cylinder, dry-sump lubrication, Marelli Microplex ignition, and Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection. Up to 385 HP is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The chassis includes front and rear double wishbone suspension as well as four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. The seller reports an engine-out service in 2019 included new timing and drive belts, spark plugs, a new battery, a clutch, and a throw-out bearing. Throttle body cleaning was performed in 2020 and an oil service was conducted in 2022. The seller notes an oil leak is present at the right cam cover drain hose.
This sale will include the manufacturer’s literature, a car cover, and a clean title. The seller notes that a July 2022 inspection report shows the vehicle may have more miles than shown, however, this is attributed to a clerical error.

These cars are tricky if they have an opaque and storied history. I would doubt that we will ever get the full story. I’m a buyer because I have a full restoration shop and we can reset the clock and bring this up to the transparency level that we expect from these sorts of vehicles. This one would be a keeper for me though

can you explain the very odd service record of 20 services in 6 years only gain in miles of 86. often times of just 1 mile difference between services.
