The 1938 Chevrolet Master Deluxe was the brand's flagship model at the time, featuring updated styling with a concealed radiator behind a facade. This example underwent refurbishment and extensive customization. Under the hood lies a 350ci V8 with billet aluminum components, an Edelbrock intake, a 4-barrel carburetor, and a 3-speed automatic transmission. Finished in black over a tan leather upholstery with painted wood grain interior trim, it boasts an all-steel body and fenders, power steering, Wilwood disc brakes, air conditioning, 19” and 20” Intro aluminum wheels, and much more. This tastefully restored Master Deluxe is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

The steel bodywork is finished in black and features body-color headlight buckets, fog lights, chrome accents and bumpers, running boards, dual mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on custom 18” and 20” Intro wheels sourced from solid 6061-T6 billet aluminum, wrapped in low-profile Accelera all-season tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

In the Kalahari cabin, the seating surfaces have been professionally reupholstered in tan, with matching trim adorning the door panels, headliner, package tray, and trunk interior. It also boasts Classic Instrument gauges, a polished tilt floor shift steering column accompanied by a chrome-finished Lecarra steering wheel, and a Vintage Air conditioning unit. All gauges and electronics have been confirmed to be in working order.

Power comes from a Chevrolet-sourced 350ci V8, equipped with a high-rise manifold, an Edelbrock intake, a 4-barrel carburetor, and polished valve covers. The rear wheels are driven by a Chevy 35 3-speed automatic transmission with stick shift control. It also equips rack and pinion front steering, Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners, Mustang II-style front suspension, and leaf springs 10-bolt at the rear end. The seller mentions that the carburetor features an automatic choke and runs rich, suggesting potential benefits from an aftermarket fuel-injected system. Notable upgrades include a new gas tank, shocks, starter, flywheel, aluminum radiator, power steering, and cooling fan, with regular maintenance conducted under current ownership.

This sale will include a car cover and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Even my wife loves this car! The only reason I'm selling it is because I bought a 51 Chevy Pick Up and have run out of room. It's a great car and attracts a lot of attention every time I show it. I will hate to see it go.”

I had this car listed for 42,500 didn’t meet my reserve of 40,000 and that’s why I’d like to get 40,000. Hope that meets with your expectations. Thank you.

All the modifications were done before I bought the vehicle. I do have receipts for the work that I did on it.
Paint blemishes are very minor and have been touched up however no one would even notice them.

Hello @Larry911 when was the majority of the work completed on your '38? Do you have much documentation? And are there any paint blemishes worth noting? Thank you in advance.

Things have certainly changed since 1958 when you bought your first 38 Chevy obviously we’re halfway there. It’s one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever ever owned and enjoyed if you read my statement of the only reason I’m selling it as I bought a 51 Chevy pick up five window, and I’ve run out of room

My first car was a 1938 Chevvy Master Deluxe coupe, purchased for $50, and my first year insurance cost about $75 as i recall. This is what my car has become in this day and age. Friends and I were able to sleep in the trunk on a trip to the Road America event back in 1958. Maybe I need one back for old times sake.

Welcome to my auction site! If you love classic street rods, you'll love this rare all steel body show car! I've loved driving it to weekend car shows where it's never failed to grab the attention of other car enthusiasts, and the only reason I'm selling it is because I've found a 1951 Chevy street rod truck (like un-modified truck my grandfather used to drive) and I only have a two car garage! I'll hate to see it go, and I've listed it here because I want it to go to a good home. I'm available for questions, so don't hesitate getting in touch. Larry
