The seats are OEM Porsche, optional on 997 GT2, have carbon fiber shells and thorax air bags. They were purchased new from Suncoast Parts.

The car passes New York State emissions.

@HonkHonk The last track event was August of 2022. The owner decided to “retire” in 2023 so the car has been occasionally street driven since then, always stored.

There are a few original parts left over, mostly small exterior bits, but also the stock seats. They could possibly also be included. It would need to be discussed with the successful bidder.

Gearbox oil was changed every track season

  • Berosucci (registered bidder) 17 hoursago

@HonkHonk a center mounted radiator is mentioned in the description.

  • HonkHonk (registered bidder) 17 hours, 30 minutesago

    @Universalimports
    Has center radiator been added?

    Are stock parts included?

What was the gearbox oil change interval when tracking?

  • LyJol58596164356 23 hours, 40 minutesago

I want this Cayman, the twistiest here in Oregon are the perfect place for this build. I will check in the morning to see who is waiting to bid.

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 1 day, 1 hourago

Sincere thanks for the detailed answers.
Looking at the DME hours, the car has only had about 30 hours use in the last 2 years?

  • Universalimports (seller) 1 day, 9 hoursago

@Peteweiss Original 3.4 redline was 7200. The 3.8 was set at 7400 or 7600; I’m not positive which. The number of ignitions in range 1 and 2 is consistent with a car driven on the track and shifted at or just below redline. Again, the whole purpose of the stronger built engine was to insure that this was safe. As far as I know the DME ranges are the same. The recent near miss over-rev was at the Glen in July 2022. The last missed shift was in 2018. There has been no bore scope.

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 1 day, 12 hoursago

Maybe too much detail to know-
Is red line the same for this motor as the original 3.4? Do the DME ranges correlate still?
Does seem a brief missed shift very recently.

Has bore scope been done for scoring?

    Thanks!

  • Universalimports (seller) 1 day, 19 hoursago

@SteveinVT I have to send it to YouTube and then have them upload. Should be posted this morning. Thanks.

  • SteveinVT (registered bidder) 1 day, 20 hoursago

Thanks so much for posting the DME. Has the cold start video posted? I couldn't find it.

  • Berosucci (registered bidder) 2 days, 6 hoursago

@Universalimports Thank you for the information.

  • HonkHonk (registered bidder) 2 days, 6 hoursago

    Has center radiator been added?

    Are stock parts included?

  • HonkHonk (registered bidder) 2 days, 8 hoursago

Wow, Range 1 overrevs maxed out. The entire powerband was certainly used in this car.

  • Universalimports (seller) 2 days, 8 hoursago

Attention : new photos added of undercarriage and list of parts as well as a DME done this morning. Cold start video is being uploaded and attached here is a message about the DME report:
The 3.8 engine was built after a couple of missed shifts resulting in ignitions in rev ranges four and five with the original 3.4 motor. I wanted a robust engine that was built for max revs in the 7000s and that would withstand a rare missed shift. Since the build there has been one missed shift at 1446.8 resulting in 87 ignitions in rev range 5 and 235 in rev range 4. There was also a "near miss" at 1525.7 resulting in 111 ignitions in rev range 4. The engine continues to run strongly, with no negative signs.

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 3 days, 5 hoursago

Why was the steering changed from hydraulic to electric?

  • Universalimports (seller) 3 days, 8 hoursago

@SteveinVT thanks for the interest. I am working with the owner and the shop that worked intimately with the car to get the needed answers. I can get undercarriage and cold start video hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest. Thanks again

  • Universalimports (seller) 3 days, 8 hoursago

Hello everyone, I am working on getting as much info as possible in a short period before the auction concludes. As of this morning, I have this below info to start. Tomorrow I will work on getting the rest. Thank you for your patience.

Engine is Cayman, but with 3.6 case halves and 3.8 liners. All new internals will be in list tomorrow.

Estimated horsepower is at the crank.

    No gearbox cooling.

    No gearbox whine

  • SteveinVT (registered bidder) 3 days, 9 hoursago

This looks like a really nice track-oriented 987 Cayman. A DME and a cold start video would give me the confidence to bid. Thanks!

  • HonkHonk (registered bidder) 3 days, 11 hoursago

Are there any records or any other evidences to show the engine was upgraded?

    Are the stock parts included?

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 4 days, 5 hoursago

Agree would like more details on the build- 3.8 carerra or upgraded 3.4? And if the latter what if any upgrades to engine internals?

Is the estimated HP at wheels or crank?

    Thanks!!

  • HonkHonk (registered bidder) 4 days, 7 hoursago

Any details on the engine build? Is it just a regular 3.8l M97 from a 911 that got the IMS bearing or is it the original 3.4l with larger bore nickies?
Has there been any gearbox cooling mods? Any whine from the gearbox?

  • Berosucci (registered bidder) 4 days, 9 hoursago

@Universalimports that would be appreciated, and perhaps some undercarriage pics?

  • Universalimports (seller) 4 days, 10 hoursago

@Berosucci we are working on seeing if a DME is possible prior to auction end. I will post our progress on Monday. Thank you for you patience as we see if we can make that happen.

  • Tmort (registered bidder) 4 days, 13 hoursago

Needless to say I suspect she won’t pass a smog test here in California! 🙀

  • Berosucci (registered bidder) 5 days, 11 hoursago

Can you get a DME? It would provide more confidence in bidding on this beauty of a track weapon.

  • Universalimports (seller) 5 days, 13 hoursago

@Kians313 I believe the owner spent most of not all the time at Watkins Glen.

  • Universalimports (seller) 5 days, 13 hoursago

@Peteweiss thanks for the great question. We do not have a DME report.

  • Kians313 (registered bidder) 5 days, 14 hoursago

Great looking car and an impressive list of mods and accessories! GLWA!
Curious where u usually track this car or autox. Seems w the adjustable components u could do either really well.

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 5 days, 23 hoursago

    Fantastic!

Any other improvements to engine internals?
    DME report available?

    TIA
