In 1974, the new Porsche 911 G-Series was introduced featuring a shortened hood, boxy impact bumpers, and a fuel-injected engine. This 1976 Porsche 911S Coupe was acquired as a rolling chassis and has been professionally built with an upgraded 3.2-liter flat-six engine sourced from a 1980s Carrera and paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. Finished in Cockney Brown over Cork upholstery, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

This 911S is finished in Cockney Brown and equipped with front fog lights, chrome headlight rings, and aluminum trim around the windows. Additional features include pop-out rear quarter windows, dual rearview mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on custom multi-piece 16” Fuchs-style wheels by Harvey Weidman, wrapped in like-new BFGoodrich tires. The seller describes the paint condition as "driver grade", additional images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features Cork leather Sport Seats, a tan dashboard, upper door panel covers, and matching carpets. Modifications include a Momo Prototipo steering wheel and cloth RS-style door pull straps. Additional equipment includes manual window cranks, a heater, a quartz clock, a locking glovebox, folding rear seat backs, and an upgraded head unit.

This 911S has been equipped with a larger 3.2-liter flat-six engine sourced from a 1980s Carrera model, paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle driving the rear wheels. The engine is said to have been previously built about 20k miles ago by specialist John Walker in Seattle, and a rebuild was later performed due to a broken head stud. This included all new head studs and piston rings. Additionally, the transmission was also built by John Walker while the suspension and corner balance were serviced by Jeff Gamroth of Rothsport Racing in Oregon. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.

This sale will include a clean title.

Any attempt to smog it locally in Monterey County?

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 8 hours, 18 minutesago

@sportscarguy3 you're always welcome here to see it.

@Andersenrandy ok so as for photo #68 to clear the air

I had a professional inspect it today.

He said the cars structure is very good. His inspection found what he feel was that area of the front torsion pan wasn't properly sealed. He see the white sealant that porsche used. There is that spot you see that cosmetically isn't pretty. There is also a small area near the front point where the undercoat is peeling. It's not close enough to the actual structure point to be of concern.

Ultimately you can drive and enjoy it as it is. Or do a front suspension pan. He feels the rust occurred a long long time ago.

I also would be able to help with a front pan if we wanted to discuss that matter.

    Thank you for your questions

@sportscarguy3 sorry just seeing this I was away Tuesday most of the day

The underside was not dry ice blasted and is clean

I have extensive paperwork on the build that I should be uploading tomorrow (4th)

As for the radio. I've never turned it on. My radio is a built 3.2 liter with SSI's

Also I just did the Union 76 sticker for fun. As it's a 1976. When you buy it you can put a proper PCA sticker on those windows ;)

  • mn911moby (registered bidder) 21 hours, 15 minutesago

Regarding the fuse box cover, uhh, just buy a used one from the forums and call it a day. Here's a whole assembly with cover for $150.

  • wcode (registered bidder) 23 hours, 39 minutesago

    @Chipper - yikes!

  • wrbgolf69 1 day, 4 hoursago

I think I may be the original owner of this vehicle.

I purchased this color combination in 1976 from a dealer in Montgomery Alabama and after 2 and 1/2 years sold the car to a doctor who was moving from Georgia to Northern California.

  • Chipper (registered bidder) 1 day, 12 hoursago

Pic #68 looks quite bad. Battery acid has leaked down and rusted out the front suspension mount.

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 1 day, 14 hoursago

@Andersenrandy ok. I'm happy to get those photos for you in the next couple of days. Thank you for your interest

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 1 day, 15 hoursago

    Update:

I will be uploading service paperwork and more history on the car in the next couple of days.

    Also videos

Been dealing with some technical issues

  • Andersenrandy (registered bidder) 1 day, 15 hoursago

Love to see inside the smuggler box and also a picture with the back seats flipped up . Thank you

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 1 day, 15 hoursago

@Andersenrandy yes john did the motor and transmission in Seattle. My mechanic here in Monterey just finished the fresh rebuild!

I will be posting pictures of the paperwork and documentation in the next day or so.

As far as rust the car is quite dry except for that small area you noted. It's not structural and you can see Jeff Gamroth installed all new suspension around it.

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 1 day, 16 hoursago

@sportscarguy3 no carpeting. That being said I may have a front trunk carpet but no guarantee.

I will have to let you know on the fuse box cover.

And I totally agree that cork is a great interior color!

  • Andersenrandy (registered bidder) 1 day, 16 hoursago

Engine rebuilt about 20,000 miles by John Walker in Seattle and a rebuild was later performed due to a broken head stud. Did John Walker also do the second build to replace the head studs. Any more details on engine would be appreciated. Also - how much rust in on this car? Picture #68 shows some possible pretty deep rust or is it mostly surface rust.

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 1 day, 21 hoursago

Keep remembering a few things to ask additionally
    Front compartment, is there carpeting?
Fuse box is exposed, do you have the fuse box cover and does it stay on?
Good looking interior, my 1983SC Targa had the cork interior, a classic look and patina, much different and much nicer than the more modern tan interiors in today’s Porsches
    imho

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 1 day, 21 hoursago

@bigvitty4u OK appreciate your comments about the dash I just like to see it dark/black to make the color scheme look better in my opinion
However, given your comments, happy to just leave it
I’m here in Santa Rosa and drive down to Laguna Seca for the races frequently
Not sure where the bidding is going to go for this probably past my range of budget, but will
Keep an eye on it, and perhaps I could come down and take a look

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 1 day, 21 hoursago

PS apologies, should have looked at the pictures before making any comments to consolidate my comments
I believe I see a radio in the dash face but see no speakers
Is the radio functional and are there speakers and music in the car?
Also, what kind of maintenance history do you have ?
Additionally, the underside is super clean did you dry ice?
Finally, and all due respect, have a worked at a 76 gas station when I was a youngster,
Let’s swap out that 76 sticker for a PCA sticker and or delete it all together 🤙🏻😎

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 1 day, 21 hoursago

@sportscarguy3 good morning. Thank you for the kind words.

The dash is fairly straightforward to change. The tan dash is very rare and in near perfect condition which would make it desirable for other collectors

  • bigvitty4u (seller) 1 day, 21 hoursago

@Bucketheadned yes it's a 915 gearbox built by John Walker

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 1 day, 21 hoursago

That’s a handsome little Porsche, sure would like to get my hands on this one, and not far away down in Monterey
Also, seller, or all you Porsche knowledgeable, how difficult to either swap out this dash for a black dash or make it black?
The only thing I’d like to change about this Porsche

  • Bucketheadned (registered bidder) 1 day, 23 hoursago

    915 trans?
