The Datsun 240Z remains an iconic classic, revered for its style, performance, and affordability. This 1971 example underwent extensive restoration and modification by UnderCover Restorations of Merritt Island, Florida, reportedly costing approximately $140,000. It is powered by a machine shop-rebuilt 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE inline-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and has been refinished in Ford Volcanic Gray over a custom black leather interior. It boasts various aftermarket upgrades such as an Apex Engineering suspension with custom engine mounts, a Boss touchscreen audio system with a Pioneer subwoofer, a Nardi steering wheel, BC coilovers, a Vintage Air Conditioning system, and more. This meticulously restored 240Z is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

The 240Z is widely recognized for its iconic silhouette, which features a long hood and a short rear deck. This example underwent a bodywork restoration and is refinished in Ford Volcanic Gray. It showcases a Skillard Billet front grill, custom plasma-cut hood louvers, wheel-arch flares, front and rear spoilers, and custom side mirrors. It rides on aftermarket silver-finished 18” wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. The paint benefits from a professionally applied ceramic coating. The seller notes the front left of the hood is slightly misaligned (approximately 1/8"). Detailed images, including the bodywork restoration process, are provided in the gallery.

The cabin features custom bucket seats upholstered in black leather, complemented by matching carpets. It is equipped with a wood-trimmed Nardi steering wheel and a matching shift knob, and amenities include electric windows, a Vintage Air Conditioning system, and a Boss touchscreen audio system paired with Rockford Fosgate 6”x9” speakers and a Pioneer subwoofer. Additionally, an automatically-connecting AppleCarplay system is located within the glovebox. All gauges and electronics are confirmed to be functioning properly, although the emergency flashers and the rear defogger are currently inoperable, and the emergency brake is disconnected.

A machine shop-rebuilt 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE inline-six engine, equipped with a Precision 6266 turbocharger, delivers power to the rear wheels through a Tremec T-56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission and a Ford-sourced 8.8 limited-slip differential. Performance upgrades include an aftermarket aluminum intake, an intercooler kit, a custom aluminum radiator, custom engine mounts, and a MegaSquirt engine management system and transmission controller. An Apex Engineering suspension and Apex Engineering components and 32-way adjustable BC racing coilovers have been fitted, while Wilwood disc brakes provide stopping power to all four corners.

This sale will include a clean title.

For those bidding on my Z I thought I would add another comment …I having bought cars from private sellers and at auction…I always thought I knew most of the imperfections…but man did I find out how wrong I was…always something I did not expect…there is always tweaking needed but I decided after my last private purchase I would never do that again…hence I build my own to very a very high end and meticulous standards with no expense spared. We were very detailed with this build. There are a few minor imperfections and these are noted in the description. This Z
Is meant to be driven, enjoyed and admired. The next owner will not be disappointed. Happy to answer any questions

@Spazaz88 you did not miss anything. Have not had the car on a dyno. If I had to guess it’s moat likely in the 300hp range. A lot of power for a very light weight car. and as I am sure you know the 2J can be set up for 2000hp. I would suggest that’s total overkill. But, having said all that the car has plenty of power and the turbo gives it a big additional boost. No one will be disappointed with the engine set up, the handling and the pure thrill of driving this Z. This car was built to own not to sell. A big difference for any potential car buyer.

@Mtut thanks...this was a three year passion build. A lot of R&D and thought...happy that its appreciated. Hate to see it go...who ever gets it should drive it and have fun with it...it handles great, looks great in person...the paint/color changes constantly and the iron fleck makes it sparkle in the bright sunlight...always gets a compliment...the z gets a ton of attention everywhere it goes...the 72 Z was and remains iconic to this day...timeless styling...
