The fastest and most powerful 911 of its generation, the Porsche 997.2 GT2 RS features a twin-turbocharged Mezger engine delivering over 600 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. One of 500 examples built in total, this GT2 RS comes finished in GT Silver Metallic over a black/red leather and Alcantara interior. It was sold new in Canada and acquired by the seller as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from Porsche Center Vancouver in 2016 with about 1,000 kilometers driven since. Now showing just under 7,100 kilometers or 4,400 miles on the odometer, this rare GT2 RS is being offered for auction out of British Columbia.
Finished in GT Silver Metallic, the 911 Turbo-derived bodywork includes GT2-specific bumpers and a rear wing as well as an exposed carbon fiber hood and carbon fiber trim on the mirrors, air intakes, and rear diffuser. This example rides on factory 19” GT2 RS center-lock wheels in an optional silver-painted finish. It also features clear taillight lenses from Porsche’s Exclusive options list. The seller notes clear paint protection film was applied to the front fenders under prior ownership. A few small chips are noted on the carbon fiber front bumper trim as well as a hairline scratch on the driver's side mirror, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is upholstered in black leather with carbon fiber accents and red Alcantara trim lining the seat centers, armrests, shifter, handbrake, and steering wheel. Unique details include lightweight red door pulls, red seatbelts, and carbon fiber “RS” logo door sill guards. An exclusive Sports Look footrest was selected as a factory optional as well as Sound Package Plus, a Bluetooth phone interface, Universal Audio Interface, automatically dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor, and Sport Chrono Package without Porsche Communication Management (PCM). A bolt-in half cage was fitted by a prior owner along with a TechArt nose-lift hydraulic system. Some wear is noted on the driver's seat bolster and door sill.
Among the last 911s to carry the legendary Mezger engine, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six in the GT2 RS produces up to 620 HP and drives the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 3.5 seconds with a top speed of over 200 MPH. The RS comes standard with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), improved cooling systems, revised aerodynamics, and a lightweight design that saves 154 lbs. over the standard 997 GT2. An upgraded Sharkerwerks muffler has been installed and the original titanium exhaust is said to accompany the sale. The CARFAX report shows a history of routine maintenance up until 2016 and the seller notes subsequent service records are available from the time of their purchase.
