Produced from 1968-1975, the BMW E9 coupe range features bodywork by Karmann and was initially sold with a four-cylinder engine, with the M30 inline-six eventually offered. This 1973 3.0 CS is refinished in black over a brown leatherette interior and features the 3.0-liter M30 inline-six with dual Weber carburetors, paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, 15″ alloy wheels, a sunroof, and more. Initially sold by BMW of Beverly Hills, California, this 3.0 CS is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan.

Designed by Wilhelm Hofmeister, the E9 features classic BMW styling cues such as front kidney grilles, quad headlamps, and “Hofmeister kink” C-pillars adorned with BMW roundels. Said to have been repainted in the 1990s, this 3.0 CS is now finished in black, and equipment includes chrome bumpers and window trim, front fender vents, flush-mounted door handles, and polished side mirrors. It rides on 15” multi-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Kumho Ecsta AST tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, this BMW features front bucket seats and a rear bench that have been reupholstered in brown leatherette, along with matching door panels accented by wood trim, which also lines the dashboard. Equipment includes power windows, an electric sunroof, front seatbelts, rear lap belts, a wood-rimmed 3-spoke steering wheel, and a Kenwood AM/FM cassette stereo. The seller notes that the air conditioning system is nonfunctional and that the speedometer was rebuilt in November of 2019.

Powered by a 3.0-liter M30 inline-six engine, this E9 is equipped with dual downdraft Weber carburetors. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 3-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes at each corner. The seller reports that corrosion is visible on underside components and a transmission leak was attended to in preparation for the sale. A 5-speed manual transmission will be included with the sale, along with spare parts, and a set of 14″ alloy wheels wrapped in older Pirelli tires.

This sale will include a window sticker, some documentation, a five-speed manual transmission, a set of four wheels, spare parts, and a clean title.
