Finished in Black and equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, this 2006 Porsche 987 Cayman S was purchased by the seller about 7 years ago at 45k miles and has undergone extensive service and several modifications. It features aftermarket wheels, Bilstein sway bars and PSS9 coilovers, a Numeric short-throw shifter, a Soul Performance exhaust system with headers, an EVOMS air intake, LN Engineering oil pan, Rennline aluminum pedals, an aftermarket head unit, and GT2 RS-style red Alcantara headliner. This Cayman S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Connecticut with approximately 68k miles showing on the odometer.

This 987 is finished in Black with matching aftermarket 19” wheels and contrasting red brake calipers. Other equipment includes aftermarket yellow-tinted front rally lamps, tinted windows, clear side marker lenses, Soul Performance exhaust tips, integrated side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, front fog lights, and optional bi-xenon headlamps with washers. The seller notes some paint damage on the front bumper, scuff marks on a window seal, peeling window tint on the driver’s side, and general signs of road-going wear throughout the exterior. The front bumper is believed to have been previously refinished and the window tint can be removed upon the next owner’s request. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black interior has been customized with a GT2 RS-style red Alcantara headliner and shift knob, aluminum Rennline pedal covers, and a yellow top center marker on the three-spoke black leather steering wheel. Other accessories include optional heated seats, power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, cruise control, a central locking system, and an aftermarket Pioneer head unit with an integrated backup camera. Some normal signs of wear can be seen on the plastic trim pieces as well as an imperfection on the driver's side dashboard and a crack on the driver’s side cup holder. The seller adds that the heated seat function needs to be reset which can be done by an authorized Porsche dealership.

The naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine was factory-rated at 295 HP and 251 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller indicates the engine has been upgraded with an LN Engineering oil pan, an EVOMS air intake, an ECU tune, and a Soul Performance exhaust system with headers. The suspension has been serviced with new control arms and upgraded with Bilstein sway bars and PSS9 coilovers. The brake calipers have also been rebuilt and paired with upgraded pads and rotors. Other services completed by the owner include replacing the air/oil separator and ignition coils and flushing the coolant, brake, and transmission fluids. The seller adds that a borescope inspection was performed, and no concerns were identified.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “The car has been meticulously maintained from a mechanical perspective. I have gone through every detail of this car. I understand it is not the most beautiful from a cosmetic perspective, but it is a driver’s car through and through. I want this car to go to someone who will drive it and continue to work on building it to its full potential.”

Just started my search for a 987 daily/HPDE car. I’m not ready to buy just yet, but will be watching the auction closely!! .Good luck to all!

@G964 I did not keep a log unfortunately, but I did nearly everything besides a clutch replacement, that was done by the previous owner and the clutch still feels strong. I did one track day, and the paint is original to my knowledge. Tires are 4 or so years old, and probably about 50-60% tread left.

  • G964 (registered bidder) 6 days, 11 hoursago

Do you have a log of the self performed maintenance during your ownership? Has clutch been replaced? How much track usage under your ownership? Is paint original other than front bumper? Tire dates and tread depth?

  • srcooley (seller) 6 days, 19 hoursago

@Peteweiss yes that’s the intent of the upgraded oil pan, has larger capacity as well as additional baffling

    Thanks again for your responses.
I’m considering retiring my 996 GT3 from track use so looking for a good starting point for a fun DE day alternative.

Do the oil system modifications done compensate enough for the issue of oil starvation during long right hand turns with track use?

  • srcooley (seller) 1 weekago

@Peteweiss no problem! No oil leaks, and no CEL, it has gone off a few times in the past just due to the 02 sensors reading high from the cats but I have a scan tool that comes with the car and it clears no problem, the headers have 02 spacers installed and I haven’t had any issues

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 1 weekago

Thanks for answering so many questions!

    Any oil leak at all?
    Any CEL?

  • srcooley (seller) 1 weekago

@Peteweiss I believe around 350 at the crank

  • srcooley (seller) 1 weekago

    @Peteweiss there are

  • srcooley (seller) 1 weekago

@Danosoar spark plug hole, but I did check things out when I replaced the oil pan with the upgraded one as well

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

Rough estimate of HP with the modifications?

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

If the front lights are taken off are there holes in the bumper?

  • Danosoar 1 week, 1 dayago

@srcooley Was the borescope done through the oil sump or the spark plug holes?

  • srcooley (seller) 1 week, 1 dayago

@scriscra apply CarPlay is supported, it is wired only, and as far as I know the audio system is stock, it is the Bose system and none of the speakers crackle or anything, it actually sounds really good.

I do not have any of the stock parts, the previous owner sold them all prior to my purchase of the vehicle.

Does the head unit support Apple CarPlay, and if so, wirelessly or wired-only? Has any other part of the audio system been upgraded?

Do you have any stock parts, particularly the headers? Thanks!

  • srcooley (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@TexasTRex clearance is 5” and tapers up to 6” at the front of the front bumper

  • srcooley (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@TexasTRex will do, I’ll measure when I get home this afternoon. I can take pics of the coilovers as well but you can also check them out on flat6motorsports, I believe they are height adjustable but the adjustment may affect preload, and yes I have the tools. There’s big speed bumps on my way into work and as long as I take them at an angle I haven’t had an issue but will definitely get you the clearance measurement. Let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to see or any other questions, happy to share as much as possible

  • TexasTRex (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@srcooley please do measure the clearance, I have to go over some ugly speed bumps to get to my house. PSS9's should be adjustable, can you take some pics of the coilovers to confirm. Also, do you have the adjustment tool that comes with them.

  • srcooley (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@TexasTRex I notified the guys at pcarmarket that the mileage was listed incorrectly, the true mileage is 75k, I’ll see if they can fix that. I’ve owned the car for 7 years, and put 30k miles on it. Again the guys at pcarmarket pulled the carfax, so not sure about the details, but I have performed all the maintenance on the car since I bought it, with the exception of brake and coolant flush which was done at my local Porsche dealership.

  • srcooley (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@TexasTRex yes the PSS9’s lower the car approx 30-50mm at both front and rear. The car came with them installed so I am unsure of the exact amount of lowering. I can measure the ground clearance after work today but it is enough to get my quickjacks under the car. I haven’t had much issue with rubbing going in and out of driveways and such, but it is definitely not a suv haha, just have to be careful on certain approaches and speed bumps.

  • srcooley (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Peteweiss no sport chrono, I personally did the borescope check when I bought it, I don’t believe I have photos unfortunately but the cylinders looked to be in great shape with no signs of bore scoring. A DME was not performed.

  • TexasTRex (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

The written part of the write up says 68k miles but dash says 75+k miles....is the write up from a form listing? Have you owned the car for 7 years or was that the PO? Along the ownership line question what is with the Carfax, where is the rest of it?

  • TexasTRex (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

Has the stance been lowered with the coil overs? What is the ground clearance?

  • Peteweiss (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

    Hi!
    Great car.

    Is Sport Chrono present?

    Bore scope check and DME?

    Thanks!

  • Michelle17 1 week, 4 daysago

Omgggg this is my dream car, I love it, one day will be!!

  • srcooley (seller) 1 week, 4 daysago

@Cheecho easily my favorite part of this car, I believe this was one of the first full exhaust systems that SOUL made, extremely high quality

  • Shirley 1 week, 4 daysago

    I love it, sounds great!

  • Cheecho (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

This might be the Exhaust sound Ive heard on a Cayman S!
